Clinton Adopts Southern Drawl In Effort To Win Votes

In an effort to garner support from African American voters in Alabama, Hillary Clinton debuted what many are calling a fake southern accent. While the Clinton camp strongly denied the accusation, campaign aides were reportedly seen highlighting passages from the new book ‘Ebonics For Dummies’ and ironing a ‘Scarface’ t-shirt in preparation of Clinton’s scheduled trip to South Central L.A. next week.

  1. Please see the complete clip where she used this accent, at talkingpointsmemo.com, to see that she was not “using” a southern accent as her own, but in a quotation. This current little whirlwind of online discussion about the accent is just a typical Swiftboat-type distortion some folks use on their political adversaries when they have nothing more substantive to say.

  2. I’m not disputing the quotation part but what came after. The part where she tones it down but still keeps a southern accent. I’m talking about the part starting at 15 seconds where she says “I could’ve listened to it all afternoon [...] Mayor Palmer from Trenton New Jersey”

  5. Hillary made a big mistake trying a black southern accent!
I taught in an inner city black school for 11 years and I never had the hutzpah to even try to imitate our populace.
Her attempt only cements her image as a phony…molded by her juggernaut and not a drop of authenticity.

  6. I don’t like her much either, but I think there’s a simpler answer– she’s not an actress, and popping in and out of a dialect is tough for most people. She probably just got a little “stuck.”

At the same time, what a weird thing to do in the first place. Just read the quote in your own voice next time!
